We’re waking up to snow in Whistler. Just got word there’s so much snow on the mountain that they postponed the alpine skiing scheduled for this morning. A warm mix of rain, snow and fog is making scheduling difficult. But that type of weather really shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone who knows Whistler.

After seeing the video of Friday’s luge accident a dozen times, it was interesting to see it in person today. Some quick safety changes were made, including a taller wall at the area where Nodar Kumaritashvili left the track.

While I’ve been in Vancouver, one of tne of the story lines that’s been everywhere in US and Canadian reporting has been Canada’s failure to win a gold medal at either the Montreal Summer Olympics or the Calgary Winter Olympics. I’m quite glad that the quest has been fulfilled early because the stories were already starting to get tiresome.

We had warm weather in Calgary for most of the 1988 Olympics. But it’s nothing compared to the weather on downtown Vancouver today.?
