If you’re on Twitter and following @NYGovernor, you’re not connected to official updates from Andrew Cuomo. The new governor of New York’s official website linked to that Twitter account on Saturday, even though it didn’t exist.

If I hadn’t read that there was a glitch in the iPhone clock on January 1st I likely would have assumed I’d forgotten to turn on my alarm on Saturday. I wasn’t the only one who had a problem. I was interviewed about my experience for a story in the Monday New York Times.

We’re back to our regular schedule on Monday.

The new MTA subway and bus fares in New York took effect today. And this means there’s an entirely new calculation to learn to make sure you’re not left with a few pennies wasted on your Metrocard. The new magic number is $39.95.

Since Boxing Day fell on a Sunday, Pat has declared today a Pat’s Papers holiday. We’re back with a fresh batch of stories tomorrow morning. (If you’re in the Northeast, we hope you’ll have been able to dig out from the snow by then!)

I read about it all day. And talked about it too. But when 2:40 am rolled around, I couldn’t muster the energy to get out of bed and see last night’s lunar eclipse. Luckily, the world is composed of much more dedicated star gazers than myself. And ones with really nice cameras, to boot.

The question used to be a simple one: real or plastic. But not no longer. This holiday season people are more concerned with size of their carbon footprint than whether Santa Claus has the correct shoe size on file, a development that has made Christmas tree shopping a highly political affair. It has also led to the inevitable question, how green is your wintergreen?

Somehow we ended up with some really fancy, thick Christmas wrapping paper. It’s impossible to work with. Give me the cheap stuff any day.

I didn’t get a chance to put this clip up yesterday, but I loved Jon Stewart’s Daily Show take on the Obama / Clinton news conference this week. Why, Stewart asks, would President Obama leave the “Michael Jordan of Press Briefings” alone with the White House reporters?
