In the spirit of Awkward Family Photos, the people at Catalog Living have dipped their pens in sarcasm to dissect the seemingly flawless lifestyles that are delivered to American doorsteps via mail-order catalogs. Today is Frida Kahlo’s birthday. How do I know that? Because I Googled something this morning. The Internet giant decided to memorialize the Mexican artist with a special logo. It’s the latest in a series of Google related tricks that I’ve been collecting in the past few weeks. Another one of my favorites? This video popped up on YouTube as the G20 meetings wrapped up in Toronto. While most protestors complained about government policy, one man in Toronto was just pissed that the security precautions for the G20 meetings had shut down the Eaton Centre shopping mall.

One of the joys of living in New York is seeing the little details you’ve memorized from “Seinfeld” slip into your day-to-day life. My first New York City apartment, like Jerry’s, was 5A. And the real Kenny Rogers Roasters store with the bright neon sign was at the end of our block. So I had to chuckle when I read on the Huffington Post this morning that one “superfan” took a Sharpie to several “Seinfeld” posters hanging in the subway.
