  1. Where is Citi Field?

I’m headed to the National Tennis Center tonight to see some of the US Open. If I can figure out what time the train leaves. I spent about 5 minutes trying to find the “TO” station on the Long Island Railroad’s online schedule. It used to be the “Shea Stadium” station. But now the alphabetical list jumps straight from “Seaford” to “Smithtown.”

  2. Finally, Someone Fried Beer

It’s nice to know American inventors are conserving their energy to solve life’s truly important quandaries, like, for example, how to deep-fry beer. Apparently, a Texas man has become the first to successfully fry a liquid.

  3. Pat Tries Out ‘The Biebs’ And Falls Short

It looks like all Justin Bieber had to do to achieve his signature mop was find a strong wind source and stand under it. But looks can be deceiving. I can now tell you from personal experience that the pop star’s style is hard to replicate. Yesterday on NY1 I joked that I’d have to try the Daily News’ step-by-step instructions on how to create the Justin Bieber hairdo.

  5. NY Post on Pat’s Sleep Schedule

I’m breaking out of my self-imposed vacation week to share a link from the New York Post. A couple of weeks ago, the Post’s Mandy Stadtmiller interviewed me for a story on New Yorkers who don’t get a lot of sleep. The story is in the paper today.

  6. Bull Jumps Out of Ring into Crowd

I’ve watched rodeo bullriding in person and seen bullfighting on TV. And until now I’ve never thought of it as a risky activity for the crowd. But somehow a bull in Spain was able to jump the fence at a stadium and get into the stands. As the video from Spanish television shows, dozens were hurt.

  7. Bring Your iPad Back to the Future

I think this is probably the best example of ‘back to the future’ I’ve seen. It’s an iPad dock that turns your tablet into a retro-looking TV. It was created by a guy named Jonas Damon, who used an old fruit box to make the dock. He got all the details right, including that bump on the back and he even has his screen saver set to the black-and-white static you used to see when channels went off the air.

  8. Thin Line Between News and Entertainment

The thin line between news and entertainment got razor sharp this morning. Seizing on the public’s affection for the Jetblue employee who took to the PA system to spout obscenities before grabbing some beers and deplaning via the emergency exit, a young woman decided to announce her resignation to colleagues with a series of hilarious photos. The only problem? The whole thing was a hoax.

  9. The Age of Entitlement

I was talking with NY1 political director Bob Hardt this morning about the JetBlue hero or zero debate. Bob said the ungrateful passenger reminded him of this Louis CK bit about the modern sense of entitlement. I hadn’t seen it until now. It’s very funny.
