A reader pointed out this blog to me and I thought it was worth passing on. The name sums up their mission statement: Angry People in Local Newspapers. It’s a compendium of photographs featuring angry people from British newspapers.

There are certain voices that are undeniably unique: Christopher Walken. George W. Bush. Sarah Palin. But what about those voices you recognize but can’t quite put your finger on. The mission of Whose Voice is That? is to put a name and biography to the voices that make up the backdrop of our lives.

The New York Daily News asked a dozen New Yorkers to name a “simple pleasure” of city life. Vanessa Carlton likes to go for long walks. Bruce Morrow likes to take pictures.  Gail Simmons like to eat pickles.

And I like to ride the subway for free.

That’s basically the whole story. In the numerical US format, today’s date reads the same forward and backward. A Baltimore Sun article points out this only happens 12 times this century.

It’s time to make the switch. We had good reasons for pronouncing 2009 as “Two thousand and nine.” But it’s time to revert to the convention that served us well up until 1999. Tomorrow will be “Twenty Ten.”
