President Obama’s criticism of the intelligence and security agencies that failed to stop a suicide bomber intent on blowing up a Detroit-bound airliner was the top story today, with 22 out of 30 newspapers running it on their front pages. Google’s release of mobile device Nexus One, intended to rival Apple’s iPhone, was front-page news in 18 newspapers. Eight publications reported on the auto industry’s 15 percent sales increase in December, its best month by far in what was its worst year in decades.
