In this age of worry about carbon footprints, the cold weather practice of “warming up” the car seems naughty. I spotted an article in Toronto’s Globe and Mail on the weekend that tries to answer the question “Should you warm up your car first, or start it and go?”

It’s taken a couple of days for some of these video clips from Japan to make their way onto television and the internet. This clip shows the tsunami slamming into the seawall in Miyako City, Japan.

I tweeted a link to this video yesterday when I saw a link while checking Twitter on my phone. It’s so scary and powerful that I wanted to post it here too. The clip is extraordinary because it’s long and well shot, so you get a true sense of the strength that was behind that water as it kept rising and rising.

Prompted by his continuing spiral into belligerence, the Village Voice has proposed a national holiday: Unfollow Charlie Sheen Day. Twitter users are being asked to check out of the star’s feed on Friday, March 11 because “freedom from Charlie Sheen will be better for all of us, him included.” I was happy to note I was among the 15 people they recommended following instead.

The broadcast script for the NY1 Minute said “Snagged by Spider-Man.” When we were pre-recording the headline segment this morning that’s not quite how I delivered it.
