Friday is “Unfollow Charlie Sheen” Day

Prompted by his continuing spiral into belligerence, the Village Voice has proposed a national holiday: Unfollow Charlie Sheen Day. Twitter users are being asked to check out of the star’s feed on Friday, March 11 because “freedom from Charlie Sheen will be better for all of us, him included.” I was happy to note I was among the 15 people they recommended following instead.
The reasons laid out for Sheen Day are long and varied—the fact that he spells corner with a ‘k’ is one of my favorites; the reasons for following @patkiernan are short and sweet: “He’s, like, where the news meets class.” I also got bonus points for being Canadian.
Here are some of the Voice’s other reasons why following Sheen on Twitter is bad for you, but be sure to click through above for the full list:
Repeated violence to women (he shot one, he threatened to behead another, and then there are the porn stars. Oh, the porn stars.)
Insulting Thomas Jefferson. Repeatedly.
Thinking about him and his porn star coterie is gross.
