Seeds are the new duct tape. The Philadelphia Inquirer says “apocalypse gardens” are all the rage these days. Dire news flooding in from around the world, coupled with looming gas and food prices have created a perfect storm for the “peace-of-mind business.” One company that sells a $139 bucket of “military-grade” seeds says it’s tripled its business this month. But those profiting from the seed craze concede their products might not be the best preparation for an impending apocalypse: “If you can’t stay alive for four or five months, till the seeds are growing, it doesn’t matter how many seeds you have.”
