“Houseplants for the Inept”

Look at your thumb. Is it more black than green? If so, the New York Times has a good article outlining “houseplants for the inept.” Suggestions include a wax plant, which doesn’t like that much water; a cast-iron plant, whose “indifference to light and water” makes your only chore an occasional dusting; and a moth orchid, which will live up to 30 years with enough sunlight. If you’ve tried and or killed any of the above, don’t worry—there are about a dozen more hearty varieties to try.
