Apple Stores “New World Order in Retailing”

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the first Apple Store, an event, says USA Today, that created a “new world order in retailing.” A decade ago, no one thought that a computer company could successfully enter the retail market. But Apple wooed the man responsible for Target’s stylish makeover in the late 1990s, who introduced a concept that would change retail for the next 20 years: design. Experts say another key ingredient in Apple’s retail success has been its “level of product evangelism” espoused by its employees: “Smart retailers out there are beginning to understand it’s really all about the experience. That experience is one that makes it easier for people to understand the products they are buying — and part with their money efficiently.”
