  5. Olympic Hockey: Biggest TV Audience Ever in Canada

    Since the Olympic hockey gold medal game has been a popular topic here this week, I thought I’d share some interesting statistics released today by Canada’s Olympic broadcast rightsholders. They dug into the TV ratings vault to compare the February Canada vs. USA audience to the other classic moment in Canadian hockey: the 1972 “Summit Series” with the Soviet Union. The conclusion: the 2010 game was a much bigger event by any measure.

  6. The Big East

    Growing up in the west I was always a little resentful of all the attention the Eastern time zone got. Like the graphic that noted Good Morning America was “Live ET.”  Or when ESPN would announce that a big game was scheduled for “1 pm Eastern” and leave it to the rest of us to do the math. But it wasn’t until I picked up USA Today this morning that I fully understood the dominance of the east.
