It feels like there’s a lot of “change for the sake of change” in Apple’s iOS7 update for iPhone and iPad.  For the past week I’ve been finding my way around trying to undo some of the “improvements” in the new operating system. Here are some key problems and solutions:

I moderated a United Nations panel discussion on empowerment of women today. Among the things I learned from actress and activist Geena Davis: that women are under-represented in most areas of science and technology jobs—with one notable exception. She credits the success of television shows like CSI and NCIS for getting a huge number of women interested in becoming forensic investigators.

Don’t believe everything a television anchor says. That advice, from the Wall Street Journal, is accompanied by a picture of my face. After a close read, however, I decided not to be offended as the article is a good one about how film makers use fake newscasts as a “quick and dirty plot-exposition device.”
