The story about a self-styled superhero in Seattle got me thinking about “The Greatest American Hero.”

Question: What actual news event prompted a change in a character name on “The Greatest American Hero?”

The main character was to be surnamed Hinkley, but that was changed after the assassination attempt on Reagan.

He was originally Mr. Hinkley, then that Hinckly fellow shot Reagan….so they changed him to Mr. Hanley, or something like that, and all the kids called him Mr. H.
