They’re back! Yale researchers say a kind of tortoise, which has believe to be extinct for 150 years, is making a comeback. The New Haven Register says the discovery was made on a recent trip to the Galapogos Islands where researchers found a hybrid species with the same genetic markers as the extinct tortoise. Because the hybrid was only 15 years old, scientist now believe the C. elephantopus is not extinct. Says one researcher: “It’s like ‘C.S.I.,’ with tortoises.”
