He’s being called the Sully Sullenberger of Poland, says the New York Daily News. Pilot Tadeusz Wrona managed to land in Warsaw with a rare belly landing after his plane’s landing gear failed. All 231 passengers on board survived. Passengers on the plane, which had taken off from Newark earlier in the day, were told about an hour before arriving in Poland that they would be making an emergency landing. A witness told the Daily News the actual crash wasn’t the scary part—it was evacuating the plane via emergency slide: “Looking back at the plane smoking and 50 fire trucks surrounding it spraying foam puts it in perspective how close a call it really was.”
