UPS is offering an alternative to customers who don’t want to pay for checked baggage says the LA Times: send it. The shipping company just rolled out something called “luggage boxes,” which look like a traditional suitcase and can be shipped to your final destination for $30 to 80 less than what the airlines charge. Plus, you get a tracking number. UPS rolled out its new concept just days after it was announced that the airline industry made $770 million in the first quarter of this year on checked baggage fees.
