Unsafe for Kids PJs But Safe for Sofas?

The Chicago Tribune says manufacturers stopped using a flame retardant in kids pajamas because of a cancer risk but that the same chemical is found up to half the sofas sold from 1985 to 2010. Known as TDCPP, the chemical has been linked to “hormone disruption, developmental problems, lower IQ and impaired fertility.” A new study due out today details the widespread use of flame retardants in furniture, which health experts say is a worrisome trend.
