Underwater Hockey “Fastest Growing Sport No One’s Heard About”

Riddle me this: what sport can be played on ice, on a field and in a pool? Anyone guess hockey? The San Jose Mercury News says underwater hockey is “the fastest growing sport that no one has heard about.” Players wear a mask but don’t have oxygen tanks, which means they must jet up to the surface every ten seconds or so for a breath. The mask also doubles as a nose plug and a face shield, useful for fending off errant swipes from an opponent’s stick, which are a paltry foot long. Players say the game is addictive because it takes more “finesse” that “brute force.”
