“Trash Landing” Saves Jumper

It wasn’t a crash landing, it was a “trash landing.” Actually, it was kind of both. The New York Daily News says a 26-year-old man tried to commit suicide in Manhattan yesterday by jumping out of a ninth-story window. But his fall was broken by a cushy pile of garbage, which had accumulated during last week’s blizzard. The impact of the young man’s fall causes several of the bags—which have been aging since December 26—to burst open.
The New York Post followed the Daily News’ lead with “Trash Landing” as a front-page headline. But inside, they gave the story a little more Post panache:
