Touring Orchestras Strike “False Note”

None of the musicians that play with the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra sound very Irish. Why? Because they’re mostly Bulgarian. The New York Times says more often that not touring classical acts show a “pattern of creative marketing — even truth shading — concerning credentials and identities.” Though the US visa requirements demands that groups be “recognized internationally as outstanding,” many have little or no standing, even within their own country.
