If coffee is your go-to hangover cure, you’re on the right track. A new study was able to link caffeine to the blockage of a chemical called adenosine, which is known to cause alcohol-induced headaches reports the Philadelphia Inquirer this morning. Interestingly, researchers published their study on New Year’s Eve. The researchers warn that caffeine does little for a hangover’s other unpleasant side effects but say the discovery may help find cures for those in the near future. In the mean time, they gave their scientific appraisal of the hair-of-the-dog method, explaining why it works in the short term but concluding that it’s only postponing the inevitable.
