Sex Offender Inn

Next time you plan a trip to Florida, make sure you don’t book a room at Fort Lauderdale’s Budget Inn. For years it was known for its heart-shaped Jacuzzi, says the Sun Sentinel. After yesterday’s bust by probation officers, it will known as the hotel that housed 24 sex offenders in its 50 rooms. The motel’s owner says he was shocked when the paper informed him of his guests’ collective past. As you might imagine, so were the motel’s guests who checked in without a criminal past. The Sentinel says the situation at the Budget Inn highlights a growing problem around the country: because local laws have restricted the areas sex offenders can live, many end up homeless or in temporary residences, which can make it harder for authorities to keep tabs on them.
