Polo With Bikes, Not Horses

There’s a new sport catching on with bicycle enthusiasts says the Star Tribune: hardcourt bike polo. The paper describes the sport as a “feat of physical coordination [that] requires aptitude in steering, braking, passing, pedaling, blocking and balancing as a little ball flings around a court.” As an added challenge, hockey-style shoves are allowed and competitors can’t put their feet down. In the words of one competitor, the sport is “a poor man’s version of horse polo.” The paper says hardcourt bike polo ( as opposed to bike polo played on grass) began to gain popularity about ten years ago.
