Peanut Butter Attack

Is peanut butter a lethal weapon? Police in Michigan are trying to determine whether to arrest a man after he sent his ex-wife a bill smeared with peanut butter. The Battle Creek Enquirer says the woman told investigators she is highly allergic to peanuts and that she believes the smeared letter was an attempt to harm her. According to police, the woman “came home during her lunch break Friday and found an envelope in the mailbox addressed to her husband with oil soaking through to the outside. On the outside of the envelope was writing indicating that it contained peanut butter.”
According to the Smoking Gun, there’s (kind of) a precedent. Back in 2008, a Washington man was charged with assault after he smeared peanut butter on the forehead of another man with a severe peanut allergy.
