NW Salmon Population Rebounds

Back in 1992, only one Snake River sockeye salmon was able to make the 900-mile journey upstream to its spawning grounds. His name was Lonesome Larry. But 20 years of conservation efforts have helped repair the “150 years of overfishing, dam-building, habitat destruction and even poisoning” that have threatened the Northwest salmon population. The Seattle Times says in 2010, 1,355 fish followed in Larry’s footsteps and those numbers are still growing.
