New Cloud Type Named

Cumulus, Nimbus—meet your cousin Undulatus Asperatus. Cloud experts are about to approve the first new type of cloud since 1951, reports USA Today this morning. The new classification means “agitated waves” in Latin and “looks like a surreal undulating blanket that covers part or all of the sky.” Undulatus Asperatus had its first brush with fame back in 2006, when a cloudspotter from Iowa spotted one and snapped a photo, which subsequently went viral.
