National WiFi Plan Sparks Lobby Fight in DC

The Washington Post says the FCC has a grand plan for national WiFi that would eliminate the need to pay hefty cell phone data bills. The $178 billion wireless industry is, of course, not a fan, and has launched an intense lobbying effort to thwart the plan. That has, in turn, sparked an equally intense lobbying effort by Google and Microsoft, who say a powerful national WiFi network would “spark an explosion of innovations and devices that would benefit most Americans, especially the poor.”
