Naming the Best Wine Under $12

It’s time for Plonkapalooza. For the uninitiated, that’s the Boston Globe‘s annual contest to name the best cheap wine. No contender can cost more than $12 and the winner should be a wine the judges “would be willing to buy a few cases of.” This year’s results were a bit surprising, with one bottle of French white (2009 Saint-Peyre Coteaux du Languedoc Picpoul de Pinet) standing out as the hands-down winner.
