To me, ‘luxury khakis’ sounds like an oxymoron. But apparently it’s a marketable one. The New York Times says with some pairs of chinos ringing in at $780 and others selling for $50, it’s obvious that “since the luxury bubble burst, designers have no clue what customers are willing to pay.” The Times tracks one $550 pair from sewing machine to store to see where the costs add up.
