Kiss Fans Face Off Over Poster Mistake

With all that makeup on, who really knows what the guys from Kiss actually look like? Die-hard fans, that’s who. A poster of former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley was put up to promote an upcoming concert in Tampa. Except the poster wasn’t of Frehley, it was of his replacement Tommy Thayer—a mistake that, in the world of Kiss fandom, is considered sacrilegious says the St. Petersburg Times.

It’s an honest mistake that has some fans “calling for lawsuits and the firings of those responsible.” Apparently, there’s some history that makes the switch a touchy subject. The Times says when Thayer joined the band in 2002, two camps formed: “fans of the old Kiss and fans of the new Kiss.” So you can imagine (I guess) the outrage fans felt when the Frehley concert was promoted with a poster of his stand-in.
