Instagram Does Damage Control

Instagram is scrambling to do some serious damage control after it announced new terms yesterday. The initial changes seem to imply that Instagram would be able to sell any photos on the site to advertisers. After an uproar across the Internet, Instagram released a statement saying “our intention ... was to experiment with innovative advertising” but that they’d head back to the drawing board. The San Francisco Chronicle says the to-do illustrates the challenge that user-based services face when they try to morph from a free service into one that makes revenue.
