Inconsistencies Spell Trouble for Mortgage Industry

Anyone who’s ever faked a note from their parents knows that consistency is key. Take a look at the three signatures on the front page of the New York Times this morning. Supposedly, the same mortgage company employee signed all three. Similar inconsistencies have popped up on thousands of documents, indicating that a wide swath of foreclosure proceedings stemming from the financial crisis were improperly handled.
