The real estate aphorism, location, location, location rings true—even for the federal government. The Washington Post says the General Service Administration is pondering a plan to sell the FBI headquarters. The J. Edgar Hoover building, which, despite being roundly criticized as “drab hulk in the midst of an otherwise colorful and rising downtown,” has an enviable Pennsylvania Avenue address, making it attractive to real estate developers. President Obama has authorized the GSA to sell under-used federal buildings, a mandate that could transform the National Mall.
