Colette Bancroft, the St. Petersburg Times book editor, says in a world populated with signs like, “Smoking pets and bicycles prohibited” or “Our employee’s are at you’re service,” it’s easy to think the English language is dying. Bancroft talks to a Catholic school teacher with a reputation as a grammar task master who says it’s harder to teach kids grammar these days because of the proliferation of text-ese.
