GPS Running Watches Unreliable

There’s a fantastic illustration in New York Times health section today. Reporter Gina Kolata got a computer science professor to run 5 laps (in the same lane) wearing a GPS watch and then show her the data. The resulting graphic shows just how unreliable the coordinates are. Not only was every loop around the track different—none of them were oval.
