This week, nine items from the official book of golf rules were amended. The New York Times says “for serious golfers, the changes may as well have come inscribed on a pair of tablets delivered from a mountaintop.” The rule changes are that a) players will no longer be penalized a stroke if his or her ball is moved by the wind while it’s next to a player’s club. And 2) it is now OK to smooth the sand down before playing on a bunker, if it doesn’t create an advantage for the player.
