Flawless NCAA Bracket a “White Whale”
Thursday, 17 March 2011 | by Pat's Picks

A perfect NCAA bracket? Well, that’s the definition of March madness. Flawlessly predicting every single winner in the tournament has never been done, a small fact that doesn’t deter true “bracketheads” says the Kansas City Star. For those who think the answer is simply filling out brackets with every single possibility, get ready for a case of carpal tunnel—you’d have to fill out 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 of them to cover your bases. That would be 9 quintillion, 223 quadrillion and some odd brackets. Think that’s incomprehensible? The number jumps to 147,573,952,589,676,412,928 when you factor in the four play-in games.
