FDA Takes on Salt

Salt is the latest product to find itself in the FDA’s crosshairs says the Washington Post this morning. The agency just announced that, starting this year, it will limit the amount of sodium that manufacturers can put in processed foods. But to make sure Americans don’t go into shock, the FDA says it will decrease the amount slowly over ten years, so consumers won’t be able to tell the difference. Health experts say thousands of deaths could be prevented if people paid more attention to their sodium intake.
