Engineering Students Restore Happy Feet at Chicago Aquarium

Engineering students from Northwestern recently helped out Chicago’s Shea Aquarium with a perplexing problem, says the Tribune. The facility’s penguins, particularly the older ones, develop something called bumblefoot from standing on a hard surface too long. After a failed attempt to get the penguins to wear custom-made sandals (which they tripped over), the engineering students came up with “Tuxedo,” a six-winged waterproof bandage that is wrapped between their toes. Happy feet restored.
