Elizabeth Taylor Dies at Age 79

Elizabeth Taylor died this morning at the age of 79 from congestive heart failure. The news broke too late for today’s papers but the LA Times managed to cobble together a 3800-word obituary in the interim. Saying her “rapturous looks and real-life drama” often overshadowed her acting chops, the Times points out Taylor won two Oscars during her storied career. Taylor made more than 50 films and was married eight times to seven different men. The Times says besides men, Taylor often attracted misfortune, suffering “70 illnesses, injuries and accidents requiring hospitalization.”
