Electronic Textbook Keeps Tabs on Students

Santa Claus may know if you’ve been naughty or nice, but thanks to a new electronic textbook, your teacher will know if you’ve done your reading or not. The New York Times says the new technology is called CourseSmart and it’s still in the testing stages. But it knows how many times you open your textbook, and if you take notes or skip pages. Says one academic involved in the testing process: “It’s Big Brother, sort of, but with a good intent.”
