Don’t Forget About Haiti

An editorial in today’s New York Times urges people not to forget about Haiti. The situation has not improved and is, in fact, getting worse as the country tries to pull itself out of ruin during the long and difficult rainy season. The paper also says rape has become a serious problem in the tent camps that still house hundreds of thousands of homeless Haitians. If the international community begins to forget about the earthquake and its aftermath, “Haiti is in danger of becoming what it always was, a nagging blot on the conscience, a neglected project that never gets done.”
