Delta Buys Oil Refinery

Delta has come up with a novel way to cut down on its fuel costs: the airline just purchased an oil refinery for $150 million. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says the unusual move shows just how “serious high fuel costs have become for airlines.” Another $100 million will be invested later this year so that the refinery can start producing at least 80 percent of the jet fuel needed by Delta annually.
