Couric Set to Announce ABC Deal

In “one of television’s worst-kept secrets,” Katie Couric is expected to announce her next move today says Bill Carter of the New York Times. Insiders say Couric has signed a deal with ABC. The details have not been publicized but the deal allegedly gives Couric a cut of the syndication profits, which could add up to tens of millions of dollars each year. Some say Couric’s insistence that Jeff Zucker, the ousted head of NBC, be the executive producer of her return to daytime TV caused NBC to back away from a deal to get her.
