Last week, President Obama told the nation, “we’re in the same playing field.” Speaker of the House John Boehner countered by saying “the ball continues to be in the president’s court.” Dana Milbank’s Washington Post column this morning points out just how many sports metaphors are being lobbed back and forth by both sides in the ongoing debt ceiling talks. The only problem, says Milbank: our debt crisis is no football game. He writes: “If you lose the full faith and credit of the United States, you don’t shake hands at midfield and meet for a rematch later in the season.”
