Climate Change Threatens Ski Industry

Bad news for skiers in today’s New York Times. A new report forecasts that by 2039 the number of ski resorts in the Northeast will be drastically smaller because the season will be too short for any hill in Connecticut or Massachusetts to remain economically viable. The culprit? Global warming. It’s a trend expected to affect the entire $10.7 billion winter sports industry, which employs around 187,000 people in 38 states.
