“Chap-Hop” Blends Hip Hop with Gentry Lifestyle

Call it old-school. The Wall Street Journal says the latest musical genre to come out England is something referred to as chap-hop, a fusion of hip-hop and “the imagined lifestyle of the British upper classes.” All the elements of classic hip hop are there but in chap-hop, the topics have been tweaked. An example? One of the genre’s forefathers recently rerecorded NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton,” changing the song’s focus to cricket.
