California: Nation’s Highest Income Tax

An interesting story in the New York Times this morning about California’s position as the nation’s highest income tax collector. This year, the state’s millionaires can expect to say goodbye to 51.9 percent of their earnings in federal-state income tax. The Times says not only is that the highest rate in the nation, it’s the steepest it has been since World War II.
