Aspen: America’s Most Expensive City

What does $559,000 buy you? In Aspen, it’ll get you the cheapest house on the market, located in a trailer park. The Wall Street Journal says the Colorado resort town has won distinction as the country’s most expensive city. Aftershocks from the housing crisis continue to roll over much of the US real estate market but home prices in Aspen have soared over the past four years. Says one of the city’s newer residents: “Aspen is like a small Manhattan, you can find almost all upscale brands for shopping and restaurants are excellent.” Or as another resident more succinctly puts it: “It is Adult Disney.”
